| Beautiful Paint: Weekend Painting Courses,
York 2008
May 24th & 25th
July 26th & 27th
October 25th & 26th
"...loosening of control and freeing the unconscious...the
attempt to find a language beyond culture & convention...composition
is selective improvisation...final meaning emerging through meaningless..."
Ever fancied yourself as Jackson Pollock or Howard Hodgkin, Gillian
Ayres or Barbara Rae?
Lesley's courses are suitable for both the adventurous beginner
and the more experienced artist who wants to explore painting
on canvas, both large and small, in a less traditional form.
Participants will be encouraged to work in an expansive, free-flowing
and loose style. Rather than focusing on external objects you
will learn to work from your own inner resources of instinct,
feeling, imagination and intuition.
Different techniques will be explored including texture, layering
and scratching out. In this way you will become familiar with
the versatile properties of paint which will be applied with hands,
sticks, feathers, brushes and palette knives. The development
of a deeper understanding of colour and how it can be used to
create balance, harmony and composition will make up a central
core of the teaching.
Please phone or email Lesley for details of the next course.
(10am - 4pm, £150pp, acrylics, canvas and lunch supplied
- bring your own brushes, although these can be supplied on request)
