Painting Courses for Experienced Artists & Adventurous Beginners

"What a wonderful day on Wednesday! Thanks so much Lesley. I realised in the evening I felt happier and more relaxed than I had been all year! The sunshine and the landscape and the gorgeous food helped. But above all working alongside other artists with a sensitive tutor instead of doing my time in solitary, - trying something new. Those first little sketches gave me more pleasure than anything I had laboured over. I will get out more and be braver working in the open."

What to expect
You will be encouraged to move into abstraction; to develop fresh ways of interpreting what you see and an intuitive, organic approach to painting which has its roots in observation and carefully considered choices.

These courses will explore colour and composition; scratching out, layering, water washes and dripping; how to use a palette in a way which helps to ensure the success of your painting and how to work with acrylic mediums to increase the depth and patina of your work.

What to bring
  • Packed lunch
  • Old clothes
  • Brushes (if you are a beginner I will provide them)
  • Two canvases ( one large, one small) sketch books and sketching pencils. ( canvases can be purchased from me for £5.00 each.)
  • Paints- I will provide a lot of paint but feel free to bring your own products especially if you are an experienced artist.
What you will take away with you
Two canvases full of Inspiration, fresh approaches, knowledge, ideas and refreshed perspective and new skills.

"I find Lesley`s work inspirational and it was great to watch Lesley in action and how she actually approached her work and executed it. Lesley gave really helpful feedback throughout the day that I'm going to put into action and take forward into my future work. It was a great day with really friendly people that I'd love to repeat."

Skills required
It is totally possible to teach experienced artists alongside adventurous beginners. However, to give everyone the best experience I am trying to tailor classes to suit individual  needs. Therefore please give me details of your experience and areas of interest or desired development when you apply for the course.

'Thank you Lesley for a really enjoyable workshop. We were all made to feel so welcome and quickly put at ease when we arrived. The village hall that we met in was a lovely, light, bright venue for the workshop and also had a ramp for ease of access."
