Painted midday and late afternoon in a very hot August, the paint dried as soon as it was applied. There was an overwhelming stillness, as if everything was too hot to move.

The painting is supplied in a beautifully handpainted double frame with gold leaf, created by local Yorkshire craftsmen and women.
